Where Is Our Hearts Now!

Our focus has a significant impact on our overall health.

We are in the Second Sunday of Advent, and it matters where our hearts are at this time as we prepare for the great Feast of Christmas. Our Gospel Portion today is St. Matthew 3:1-12, and we will delve into

For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah when he said, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.”
Matthew 3:3

There are many pressures the Holiday Season brings. Everyone needs the right present. Do we have everything we need to have the magnificent Christmas Party? There are all these special gift days, like Black Friday (which can last for many days). Do we have enough money in our bank account and on various credit cards? I have been there, and these are essential concerns. But are our hearts ready to receive the Savior’s First Coming?

Jesus, the Emmanuel, wants us to have total healing, and we can receive it if we do not let the things of Christmas outweigh the meaning of Christmas.

How do we do this? Schedule time to read the Scriptures for the season. Schedule time to meditate and pray that our hearts will be ready to receive Jesus most profoundly on Christmas Day and Christmastide.

We must work as hard as we do to make our Christmas Healing as great as preparing for gifts and the Season’s celebrations.

Make a straight path for Jesus to come into us and bring us healing!

Prepare A Pathway for Jesus!

Be Open and Receive Him!

As we come closer to the great Feast of the Lord’s birth, we are reminded that we must look at St. John the Baptist. Our Gospel Portion for today is St. Luke 3: 1-6. We read,

…the word of God came to John the son of Zachariah in the wilderness and he went into all the region about the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.

As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet,

“The voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his path…” Luke 3: 2-4

Christmas time is perhaps the most special time of the year and the season makes so many demands on us that we may forget that we need Christmas for our spiritual health.

We must make a pathway to receive Jesus anew in this very special Holiday Season! This is a decision we need to make for our spiritual wellness!

The pathway to receive Jesus will not make itself! Find time to read Holy Scripture and pray and in doing so, all the busyness of the Season will make more sense.

Focus on the Reason for the Season, Jesus, and peace will take over our preparations for the Season.

Happy Second Sunday of Advent.

Second Sunday of Advent

Receive Peace!

Prepare Our Hearts!

In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, ”Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Matthew 3:1-2

Christmas brings us back to the base, our hearts must be prepared to receive peace! Peace is a choice and it does not come from things.

Peace be with you!

This is a very important greeting and we do not use it enough and we certainly do not live it enough!

Repent from the things that keep us from peace!

This Second Sunday of Advent, let us remember, even in all of the shopping we must do, and in all the parties that we partake of, and in all the hours we spend in the kitchen preparing wonderful delicious meals, that we need to receive peace in our hearts! We must give ourselves the time to receive Jesus. We must find the time to pray, read Scripture and to love one another!

We need Christmas, and the only way to receive it, is to stop the frenzy and allow the heart to be open to receive the peace that Jesus brings!

Happy Second Sunday of Advent!

Pax.
