Love is always the right answer.
Love Wins!
Today our Gospel Portion tells us what truly matters in life. We are reading St. Matthew 22:34-40, and we will concentrate on
“And a second is like it; you shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
St. Matthew 22:39
The leaders of His people came to Jesus to trick Him into saying something damaging, and as usual Jesus turned their lives and ours upside down. They asked Jesus for commandments, and He gave them the ones they already knew but did not apply.
Are we applying the Great Commandments in our lives?
Love of God and love of neighbor must begin with us and we must be included in this Love Affair!
I would like everyone who reads this to challenge themselves to examine how they love. However, that is our responsibility, and each one must work on it because love must begin in each one of us.
We change our world by living love as Jesus has taught us.
In our self examination, we might look at St. Paul’s 1st Corinthians 13:4-7,
“Love is patient, love is kind…” 1 Cor 13-4
St. Paul helps us become concrete in our approach to love. One of my favorite statements is
“Kindness always matters!”
I have been treated unkindly over my many years, but as a follower of the Lord, I know that it is I who must remain kind. I, using the words of Mahatma Gandhi, must be the change I want to see in the world.
Please take our Lord seriously and change our world.
Life is more about bringing Heaven to Earth than going to Heaven after we finish our earthly journey.
Let Heaven reign in our hearts and minds!
