Who is Jesus to us?

Jesus asked the question:

Who do you say that I am? Mark 8:29

This is a very important question to answer for ourselves. If we are honest, it will determine how we live now and approach tomorrow.

How did St. Peter’s answer change the trajectory of his life?

We know that Peter led the Church in it’s infancy. We know that he would die as a result of his answer to the question of who is Jesus. We also know that Peter was far from being perfect. He ran away after Jesus was arrested on Good Friday. But he kept coming back!

Being a saint does not mean being perfect, rather it means keep coming back to Jesus!

Peter knew that his only hope was being with Jesus. He said this with his mouth, but more importantly, he lived Jesus!

Saints are role models for us!

It is probably the case that we will not have to die physically for Jesus, but we will have little deaths: death to hate, death to pride, death to greed and whatever is contrary to Jesus!

Jesus is the Christ! May we live Jesus!

Stay in Him!

Happy Feast of St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta!

Jesus Still Heals!

“He does everything well; He even makes the blind see and the mute speak.” Mark 7:37

Jesus is amazing! He will make a difference in our lives, if we turn to Him and Trust Him!

TotalTrust

We may not be able to see what is important around us or we may not be able to hear what is really going on around us. Jesus will help us with sight and hearing because nothing passes His understanding!

Our prayer:

Jesus, help me to see!
Jesus, help me to hear!
So that I may serve You!

Today is the Feast of St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta. She is a wonderful example of what can happen if we have eyes and ears like Jesus. Mother Teresa stayed in prayer and she could see and hear those in need.

We too can be Love like St. Teresa!
We too, in out renewed vision and hearing, can make a positive difference in our world!

It is all about love!

People honor me with their lips but their hearts are far from me. Mark 7:7

This quote is very challenging for the faithful person. However, it is helpful to read this quote, which Jesus took from the Prophet Isaiah. Jesus was speaking to the religious leadership of His day but we are the religious leaders of today and we must take Jesus seriously!

Each one of us is called to live lives that bring people to the Lord!

How are our hearts? Do they mirror the Heart of Jesus or are they hearts of the world?

It is a wonderful custom to examine our day before we go to bed. An important question we could asks ourselves is: where was our hearts today? Did our action show that our hearts belong and follow Jesus? The more we are honest with ourselves, the more Christlike we can become.

Follow The Lord!

Choose Life!

This is hard to hear. John 6:60

Peter said: You have the Words of Eternal Life.
John 6:68

We have a choice to make! We can follow St. Peter as he followed Jesus or we can follow former disciples of Jesus who left Him and returned to their former lives.

What a friend we have in Jesus!

There are great benefits In having Jesus as our companion. His Word is both challenging and consoling. However, we must have the Full Jesus to find the peace that only He can bring!

Kenosis Life!

Happy Feast of Mary’s Assumption!

This Sunday the Solemnity of Mary’s Assumption replaces the regular Sunday Liturgy. Why? What is so important about Mary joining her Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in glory? It all begins with the Incarnation!

I am the Handmaid of the Lord, be it done onto me as you have said. Luke 1:38

The process that led to the mystery we celebrated today is total surrender to the Divine Will, that is kenosis. We celebrate the fact that Mary was totally God’s possession and when her time on Earth was over, she went to the One who totally owned her.

This is our example, we belong to God, but do we live that way? Let us continue to surrender and give ourselves totally to the One who made us and who wants us totally!

Eternal Life Now!

Christ Our Life!

Amen, amen I say to you: He that believes in Me, has eternal life. John 6:47

Jesus is our everything! He is our Bread of Life! But to receive this awesome gift, we must believe.

Familiarity breeds contempt!

In St. John 6: 41-51 we see that those who were listening to Jesus, after He preformed a great miracle, remembered He was from a family in Nazareth and this became an obstacle to receiving the gift of eternal life from Him. But some did believe and experienced eternity in their lives, that is, Heaven in their lives.

We have a choice to make today!

Do we believe in Jesus enough that the very core of our lives are changed? Jesus prayed that the Father’s Kingdom would be a present reality on Earth as it is in Heaven. Are we ready to make this Eternal Kingdom present today in our lives?

The Love of The Father

Happy Feast of God the Father!

Jesus said, “This is the work of God, to believe in the One He has sent.” John 6:29

As we celebrate the Father’s love for His children, us, we come to the realization that we celebrate the Father’s gift which is His Son Jesus. It is key in the Divine Plan that our way to the Father is through Jesus and Jesus is our everything.

Whatever situation that we find ourselves in, whether good or ill, we can find peace by letting Jesus into the situation and following His example. The Father in His great love for us, gave us Jesus who will shepherd us into Peace!

Just Love!

Romans 12:14-21

“Whenever anything disagreeable or displeasing happens to you, remember Christ crucified and be silent.” St. John of the Cross

In the Spiritual life we are going to find many friends and many enemies. Friends will stay with you because they will know your  heart. Enemies will arise because your way of life,  they are not able to tolerate. Both friends and enemies are important in one’s Spiritual development. This all part of following the Will of the Father!

The Father sent the Son so that we can become the creation that we were meant to be. Jesus reveals the Will of the Father! Jesus had many friends but he also had many enemies. This reality did not change the way He lived. In our Lord’s earthly life He loved all people. Jesus is God! He could have destroyed anyone against Him, but that would be against the Father’s Will.

Jesus had His Disciples and His enemies, both were important. The Disciples would bring the Way of Jesus to the World. His enemies like the Pharisees and the Sadducees, because they had a vested interest in their way of doing things, would try to destroy Jesus.

O necessary fault!

Because of the enemies of Jesus, the Divine Plan is accomplished! Without the enemies of Jesus we would not know true love. Those who could not follow Jesus,  crucified Him. Jesus died for them too! But death had no power over Him! Jesus rose from the dead! LOVE WIN!

What does that say about us? True followers of Jesus must treat people as Jesus did. We are Children of the Father! Jesus taught us, by word and example, how to live that way of the Godpel. Those who persecute us, we do not attack! Rather we love them in return!

Give to Jesus whatever we have!

Happy Sunday!

Another of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, “Here is a boy with five barley loaves and two fish, but how far will they go among so many?”
John 6:8-9

#TotalTrust

If we trust Jesus, and have faith in Him, impossible things can happen. The Feeding of the Multitude is a beautiful example of what Jesus can do with the little that we have.

We do not know the future, but it is our responsibility to know Jesus and put our lives in His Hands. Who knows, the multitude may be fed again!

Jesus is Compassionate!

Happy Sunday!

Jesus looked at the multitude and had compassion on them.
Mark 6:34

The Heart of Jesus is full of love!

Jesus looked on the people of His day and wanted to heal them. They were lost in their day to day struggles. They needed His Way; they needed the Way of Peace. Only He and those that follow Him could lead to that Peace. This Peace is found in the Love that Jesus modeled in His life; a Love that is willing to die for the beloved. This Total Love and Total Trust led Jesus to the Cross! This Love heals!

Jesus is Alive and He Reigns!

Jesus looks at us today and has compassion! He wants to teach us His way, the Way of Peace. We have struggled through the Pandemic, we still have weather conditions that are terrible and often life threatening. We have human made structures that fail us. We may be brought to the brink of despair! Jesus still has compassion on us and wants to shepherd us to Peace! He is our Peace!

Have a blessed Sunday!
